Chicago people, keep yo eyes peeled for my friend Matt's bike. Share this out to your people and get it back please! He is a great guy and I hate seeing this crap.

"Hey bike people (the pedal kind) some jackass broke into my garage and stole my bike, keep your eyes pealed for grey and white Klein Quantum Race with a carbon fork and red Rolf wheels. A dead give away would be someone riding it without pedal shoes."

Related only to the words "bike" and "Chicago":

My girfriend's cousin got his arm run over by a city bus while riding to work in Chicago. I'm not entirely sure of the specifics, but if I remember correctly he was nudged by a car into the city bus, then knocked off the bike, and the rear wheels ran over his arm. I got to see the pictures of the tire-print bruise on the inside of his arm, wrapping around the bicep.

Because the car instigated the incident, the city decided they were blameless in the incident, and he was left on the hook for all his medical bills.

Edit: I do hope your buddy gets his bike back!

I have an enormous amount of wood for Kleins, so this makes me a sad panda. Maybe we can get Michelle Obama to hold a sign in a picture saying "Bring the Klein Home."

Too soon?

The chances of me spotting it are slim, but I'll still keep an eye out. In which neighborhood does your friend reside?

I know that area, my sister used to live there. Not exactly near where I live or work, but I'll keep a look out nonetheless.

My Ridley Icarus SLS was stolen last year, out of my own damn garage...along with my mountain bike. Never got em back.

Don't take this as a "you should have done THIS" kind of bullshit post, but this is why I ride a 21-year-old Schwinn hybrid with busted front brakes that I got on Craigslist years ago for $50. Riding is great fun, but hardly anyone owns a bike until it's sold or wrecked. You buy a bike and own it until it's stolen. That's just a fact of life. Mine was probably stolen by the guy who sold it to me, especially since he "bought it and some spare parts, but just never got around to using it." But that's just how it is. Either buy a new bike and lose hundreds or thousands of dollars when it's stolen, or buy a used bike and accept the fact that it's probably already stolen.

as a slight refutation to this, because I totally get what you are laying down. But out of the mans garage? Could have been easily tools or a car at that point

Yeah, that part is what I really hate. Stealing anything is shitty, but B&E is the worst. I really hope he's able to get it back in one piece.

your acceptance is unacceptable. Also, what if you buy a bike and use it until it is worn out?

Good for you, I guess? It's just hard to do, especially if you live in a city. Until it becomes easier to prevent bike theft, it's going to be an extremely common occurrence.

I'm not saying we need to just accept it forever, but that's just how it is right now. There's no way around it unless you always return home without ever stopping.

ahh, the city.. That makes more sense. One of the many reasons why I avoided living in a city. Small town lyfe yo.
